The biggest treasures of craftmanship are usually found in a chest at your grandmother’s, a box that your mother has been keeping or among the ‘old stuff’ that somebody’s trying to get rid of. I think hand crocheted lace is a perfect example to this. Most of them are very creative patterns. Besides, they are generally made from cotton threads which makes them ideal for natural dyeing. As a result, they are exciting materials for me.
You can have a closer look at the vests I made from hand crocheted lace naturally dyed with chamomile (Matricaria chamomila), acacia (Acacia), madder (Rubia tinctorum) and alkanet (Alkanna tinctoria) at www.sat-su-ma.com .
